Implementation Date:
The implementation date for FOI for Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) is 1st October 2001.
What Can You Ask For?
There are two categories of information that you can have access to: Ø Personal information Ø Non-personal information
Personal information includes any records we hold that contain information relating to you. You may seek personal records irrespective of when they were created.
You will not get access to personal records relating to another person unless you have obtained their consent in writing.
Non-personal records, in general, relate to the work of LIT itself and are only available in respect of records created after 21st April 1998.
Do You Have To Pay For This?
There is generally no charge for access to personal records. However, a charge may apply in respect of non-personal information, and if seeking "a significant number of records" of personal information.
Proof Of Identity:
Before you are given access to your personal records, you will need to provide proof of your identity, e.g. your full birth certificate or passport and one other form of identity (e.g. telephone or ESB bill, child benefit).
Appeal Rights:
Your application will be acknowledged within 2 weeks of receipt. A decision on your request will be made within 4 weeks of receipt of your application. If we do not give you a decision on your request within 4 weeks, you will be entitled to seek an internal review at a more senior level within our organisation.
