Aims of the Programme:
The Certificate in Management programme is intended as an introduction to the core functional areas of Management relative to an effective organisation. This programme is designed for a range of participants, primarily mature, adult learners who wish to gain an appreciation of key management functions and skills in the context and relevance of the business environment.
Programme Structure:
The programme is divided into two twelve-week semesters, with participants studying two modules each semester.
Classes will take place one evening per week and two full Saturday’s per semester.
Examinations will take place at the end of each semester.
Entry Requirements:
There are no specific entry requirements. Selection for the programme will be by written application.

Semester 1 |

Management Fundamentals |
This module introduces students to the nature of the business organisation and provides an appreciation in the fundamental concepts, principles and practices of management within the general business environment. It also provides students with an opportunity to explore the core skills of management, such as motivation, communication, decision making and much more. |
Introduction to Computer Applications and Communication Methods (5 ECTS) |
This module develops participants’ understanding of basic computing applications (word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and internet). It raises students’ levels of competence in computing and writing skills within the business environment. |
Semester 2 |

Management Theory & Application |
This module examines organisational theory concepts and models, including those in the classical and contemporary fields. It explores the theories of organisation-environment relationships, such as contingency and resource dependency theory. It also investigates alternative design options for organisational social structures. |
Fundamentals of Accounting |
This module defines the fundamental bases of accounting, the application of the double entry system of book-keeping and the preparation of accounts, records and statements that form part of the double entry system. |
Award:
On successful completion of the programme, Tipperary Institute will award students a Certificate in Management. This programme is offered at NQF (National Qualifications Framework) Level 6 and carries 20 ECTS credits and may entitle you to exemptions from equivalent subjects on the Higher Certificate in Business at Tipperary Institute or other HETAC accredited academic programmes. Completion of this programme ensures participants are equipped with the ability, knowledge and skills transferable immediately and effectively in a business environment.
