Aims & Objectives:
This programme is awarded by the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
Many non-financial managers are daunted when faced with the prospect of preparing budgets, making financial decisions or interpreting financial
results. This programme is intended to provide the non-financial manager with the practical knowledge required to take the fear out of accounting,
thereby ensuring confident participation in financial discussions. It is aimed at middle and senior managers with financial responsibility.
Programme Structure:
One year programme commencing September 2010.
One evening per week – 6.45pm to 9.45pm. (Evening to be confirmed)
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the examining body.
Entry Requirements:
University graduates and professionals in non accounting disciplines and/or
Non-graduates holding positions with managerial responsibility.

Programme Structure:
Each module will be assessed by a 3 hour examination and a project. The examination for each module will cover the two subject areas in that
module.
In addition, students must submit a project for each module – details of projects will be sent to students by the ACCA.

Module A |

Paper 1 - Interpretation of Financial Statements |
To understand and interpret the financial statements produced by organisations for external users. Candidates should develop an understanding of the regulatory framework in which these statements are prepared and of the principles and methods which underlie their preparation. |
Paper 2 - Performance Management |
To develop a good understanding of the knowledge required and techniques available to enable managers to measure and manage business |
Module B |

Paper 3 – Financial Strategy |
To develop an understanding of the role of financial strategy in the investment, finance and resource allocation decisions within an organisation. |
Paper 4 – Risk Management |
To achieve a sound appreciation of the theoretical and practical aspects of corporate governance, and to develop an understanding of the main theories and frameworks associated with the management of both financial and non-financial risk. |
