Introduction to Facilitation Skills
Being skilled and confident helping groups to achieve their objectives, in an organisational or community setting, demands a range of facilitation skills. This programme is designed to provide participants with the skills, techniques and frameworks needed for effective facilitation.
Programme Objectives:
Participants will:
• Recognise when facilitation is a useful approach to use with a group
• Have clarified the facilitator’s role and responsibilities
• Have identified common facilitation challenges
• Be aware of their own personal facilitation style in relation to both the task and the process
• Know how to design a facilitated session
• Have a range of methods and techniques for facilitating learning, generating ideas and group decision making
• Understand group dynamics
• Have identified practical strategies for dealing with difficult situations that may arise in groups
• Have developed their facilitation skills through practice in a safe and supportive environment
Programme Structure:
The training method will be primarily experiential i.e. learning by doing, and will make use of a range of learning methods, structures and training materials. Participants will be encouraged to draw on their own experiences and will have opportunities to learn and practise a range of approaches that are useful as a facilitator. Individual guidance and feedback will be provided in a supportive and non-threatening learning environment.

Programme Fee:
Programme fee is €300.
FÁS funding may be available for this programme.
